Star Trek: Starship Surya

I've always been a Trekkie, an old-school Kirk, Spock & McCoy Trekkie. My dad got me hooked on this show before I can really coherently remember anything. So I was inevvitably going to tell a Star Trek story.

I don't like using other people's characters. I don't feel I can really capture Kirk & crew. So this is about my own set of characters; very similar of course, and intended as an homage.

As for it being the Surya, that's partly fate. I really like the Reliant from Star Trek II, and wanted to use a "TV-era" version of that ship, which was to be the U.S.S. Excellent. But the mest model I could find had the name built in as part of the mesh. So it became the Surya. It may be just as well, as the ship's emblem is based off of a symbol of the Hindu god (goddess?) Surya; and I think it looks really good.
