Hit & Miss
This pic took forever. I'd originally started it as a way to compensate my wife for all the time spent making pictures, by making her one. But it was hard to get it just right; and then it became a learning experiment with depth-of-field, and then with postwork for the blood coming out of the Orc's mouth (which still isn't right, but I'm tired of fiddling with it.)This is based on my wife's incredible dice luck when playing D&D; it seemed that she only ever rolled 1's or 20's. In fact, the sequence that inspired this was: Roll a 1, break the bowstring. Roll a 1, loose the shortsword. Roll a 1, loose the longer sword. Get tossed a rapier by the bard, and roll a 20, killing the orc with one hit.
That's a little too complex to show in one picture, so I've simplified it somewhat. It's still pretty right for the moment, though.
